In this podcast I speak a bit about the yearly Minnesota Day held the second sunday in August (this year August 10) at the Swedish Emigrant institute.
the Minnesota Day is held as a celebration to swedish imigration to USA
especially to Minnesota and also to other parts of the world.
It features among other things the giving og the award "Swedish -American of the Year" this year it was Barbro Osher.
Before the celebration I managed to make 2 interviews.
firstly with Ted Rosvall the chairman of the Swedish Federation of Genealogical societies He speaks about the Federation and its website and their yearly conference "The Genealogy Days"in the city of Malmö. aug 29-31 his travels to USA and its work and also what things he think is important for anyone with swedish ancestors should know. He also mentions the Federations website in english. and the CD-ROM The swedish Death book 1947-2006. the CD-ROM is available in the Federations webshop wich is all in swedish but you can ask questions over mail firstname.lastname@example.org .
the other interview is with the noted Swedish_american scholar H Arnold Barton
he talks about his own swedish ancestors and about some of the books he has written.
We will also hear The "Minnesota Day song" performed by the
Växjö Male Choir.
Lastly I speak about my new genealogical blog
Anna-Karins Genealogical Blog.
The blog is losely connected to the podcast and in it I write about swedish genealogy and history and subjects close to that and also a little about my own family research.
I also launch a new possibility to mail me and ask qustions I will then try to answer in the podcast
